10th year Anniversary of Perth Farmers Market

This year sees Perth Farmers Market celebrate their 10th year anniversary!  The market was the brain child of Jim Fairlie who still attends the market and has also been instrumental in the Perth High School Gala Dinner which will hopefully be just as successful in the coming years!

Join us on the 4th April for a fantastic day of fun and attractions.  There's lots going on; cooking demonstrations; Easter egg painting; vintage tractors, fancy dress competition; spit roast wild boar and lots of other tasty things to try and buy!

The main attractions of the day are taking place in a marquee where chefs will cook a variety of dishes using produce from the market.

Mediterranean verus Nordic diet

So it now looks like the Mediterranean Diet has a competitor in the form of the Nordic diet. The Sunday Telegraph featured a report that compares both these diets “Olive oil, vegetables, citrus fruit and unrefined cereals from the Mediterranean may be replaced in slimmers' shopping baskets by Scandinavian rapeseed oil, elk and berries such as cowberries and cloudberries”

So it looks like we may be stocking 'cold pressed rapeseed oil', cabbage, berries, herring, salmon, barley oats and wild game! All sounds good to me!

One year on at Yann's

On Saturday night Yann and Shari of 'Yann's Restaurants and Rooms' held a party to celebrate their first very successful year in business.  Yann formerly of Malmasion opened his restaurant back in March of 2008, since then he has seen his custom grow to such an extent that they have had to build an extension on the resturant to house twenty more covers.  This is testament to Yanns great great food and the great front of house hospiality given by his wife Shari.  Customers, friends and suppliers were all invited to the party, Yann served some great food which was washed down with champagne and wine.  We both started our business last year and Yann has is a big fan of our oil and uses it both in his dishes and as a dip for your bread.  Despite these difficult times Yann's proves that if you have a great product you can survive and even thrive.  In the coming weeks Yann will be serving a new menu, so I can only recommend you visit Yann's and try his food and our oil....
